Steve and Peggy of Woodland Design have been making kaleidoscopes together for over 23 years. This husband and wife team has taken traditional techniques and built upon them to create absolutely beautiful viewing treasures.
They create many different styles and sized of kaleidoscopes and still after 23 years the couple is striving to find new colors, new combinations and new inspiration. Steve turns the wooden barrel bodies, often made of local walnut, cherry, and maple wood on his lathe and Pegyg transforms glass rods from Italy, Germany and Oregon into the precious little objects held in the kaleidoscopes end chamber. Woodland Design also makes exquisite and colorful glass jewelry.
Visit the Woodland Design Studio during the Northeast Iowa Artist Studio tour in October or schedule an appointment. Look for their creations at local art galleries in Northeast Iowa and Southeast Minnesota.
